Hello and welcome to the new Learning Commons
on the New Richmond campus. The Learning Commons consists of the Learning Resource Center,
the Student Success Center, and the Education Technology Center.
These three student resources are now conveniently located together making them easier to find
and use. Let's start by taking a look at the Learning Resource Center.
This is the desk for the Learning Resource Center. The Learning Resource Center should
help you throughout your college career. Whether you are working on a research paper, or you're
trying to check out equipment to use to make a presentation for any of your classes you
can come to the counter here with any questions that you have.
If you would like to check out a piece of equipment such as a laptop or digital camera
you can walk up to the counter here and ask a LRC tech for assistance. If you would like
to check out one of the other materials available in the LRC such as a DVD or a book you can
pull it from the shelf and then bring it up to the counter with you. When your items are
due you can drop them off here in the return bin.
You will notice that as soon as you walk into the door there is a new window counter put
in. This is where the LRC techs sit, and you can
start here with any questions that you have.
Let's take a look around and see what the Learning Resource Center has to offer.
This is the front of the Learning Resource Center. You can see that we have several computers
available we have a collection of magazine and journals as well as a seating area for
you to sit down and read them, some work tables to work on as groups, and newspapers. All
of these materials are available for you to use in the Learning Resource Center, however
these items must stay in the LRC they are not available for check out. This first row
of books that you see here is the start of the general collection.
The shorter shelves contain our general collection.
These items can be checked out and removed from the LRC for up to three weeks. The tallest
shelf in the back is a reference collection. This material must stay within the LRC. LRC
also has an A/V collection. This collection contains DVDs, VHS, and audio books, and you
can find this just past the circulation desk. In the back of the Learning Commons you can
see the start of the Education Technology Center right here.
This is the Education Technology Center. This is the spot you would go to if you have any
technology based questions. If you need help with Microsoft Office, Blackboard, your email,
or anything along those lines you just stop into here. You can also stop into the ETC
if you need to make up an exam or if you need to have an exam proctored for a different
college or campus.
The third part of the Learning Commons is the Student Success Center. This you will
find right past the LRC circulation desk.
These doors lead into the Student Success Center. The success center is here to help
students with their college career. If you need a little extra help with note taking
or on how to work on memorization you can stop in the success center for some help.
You can also come in if you are looking for a tutor or if would like to be a tutor for
someone.
So that's a quick look at the new Learning Commons here on the New Richmond campus. If
you have any questions, please stop in and say hello. Thank you for watching.
