The High Life - Pastor J. Dave Adams
Hi I'm Dave Adams. I serve as the pastor the Anaheim Baptist Fellowship
in Anaheim California. Do you ever feel like life is
kind of an up hill climb for you? If you do,
you're definitely not alone in that. I think most of us sometimes...
even in the Christian life feel like were climbing a steep
grade. And, on that note I'm excited about it a new series of messages
upcoming at our church called: "The high Life",
based on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount
in Matthew chapter 5 through 7.
As that scene begins, the Bible says:
And seeing the multitudes, He went up
on a mountain, and when He was seated
His disciples came to Him." Those that wanted to
follow Jesus at that particular point,
had to climb a mountain, or at least
by our standards are pretty steep hill. Something interesting happening in that
scene; It seems like
there's a big crowd of people that had
formed around Jesus because they wanted to get
in on his miracles, His healing,
and then there was another group which we could call the committed,
that followed Jesus up hill.
I wonder where you and I fit
are we just one of the crowd, or are we
in that group up committed ones who followed Jesus,
even when it takes us up a long
and steep hill? You know it's
it's interesting and but very real to know that
being a Christ follower sometimes takes you up hill;
and it takes you through a journey that can be hard,
and arduous, and full of hard challenges.
But, this is also true the mountain top experiences that we all love
are usually come after a long
hard climb. And so in this series based on Jesus' teaching
on top of the mountain, we're going to have a mountaintop experience as we sit
at the feet of Jesus,
and listen to his word because,
I believe you and a the rest of us are
people that are not just interested in Jesus for what he can do,
we appreciate that, but we're also interested
in him because of what he has to say
to us, and what is he have some amazing things to say
in the sermon on the mount. So, if you happen to be at a time in your life when
it feels like life is an up
hill climb, remember the view
is great once you get up on top of that mountain.
I'm right there with ya, and I want to encourage you along,
our church also wants to be a blessing an encouragement to you
as you continue your journey with Jesus Christ.
God bless you.
