Let's continue with the letter L. I'll show you two possibilities for L. Just to get started,
I'm going to put an I in this space. So, here's a letter I. Now when we go into the space
above our guidelines, that's called going into the ascender space. So with the L I'm
just going to go up slightly. So you can see the difference between an I and an L is very
slight. We want to think about these letters that go above the guidelines as being about
one pen width into the what we call the ascender space. Here's an L. I'm going to curve it
ever so slightly at the bottom. Now you can also make an L that has a straight bottom,
but we're going to keep this line pretty light so as I pull that across so we can make a
curved L. Or, we can make an L that comes down and goes across with a straight line.
In any case, keep that minimal.
