Erik: What is getting easier and what is getting harder in your life?
Hattie: Wow. What is getting easier? Well, I've been through a crazy lawsuit, changed
the name of my company -- what's got easier to me is accepting when things don't work
out as expected. You know, my favorite quote of all time "everyone's got a plan until they're
punched in the face" Mike Tyson, like I feel like I've been punched maybe a dozen times
this year, but every time when I rebound, you know, I've really learned, and I used
to say this but I've genuinely learned through everything that has happened and it has made
life so much easier, all you can do is your best. I went through this crazy lawsuit. I
had to change my name. It was very expensive. But I look back and I have no regrets. I did
the best I could possibly do. And did I win the lawsuit? No. You know, I lost a ton of
money, but at the end of the day I can go to bed knowing I have no regrets. It might
not have been perfect but I've just -- I just try to do the best I can do, and just kind
of coming to terms with that has made things easier. What has made things harder is just
-- I mean I guess when you're growing every business and especially now you know, The
Grace List, which last year this time was called Save the Dating, and growing that business,
there is now -- you know, I've gotten really into doing, you know, really helping coach
people through dating and relationships and giving advice. That's been an incredible journey.
You know, we've got a TV show in the works, and all that stuff is really wonderful and
exciting, but it's just -- it's a ton more work to kind of -- to really -- to give it
my all and to keep the level of consistency and quality across the board really high.
The hours are crazy, so that stuff is tough, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I like
a little challenge.
