You've got questions and we've got answers, and less than two minutes to get into them.
So, let's get started. Let's Get Covered Illinois!
Get Covered Illinois is where Illinois residents can take the first step to
learn about new coverage options,
and financial help as a result of the new health care law. On our website
you'll be asked a few simple questions about your family or business and
based on your answers,
we'll be able to take you to the health coverage that's right for you and
financial assistance
you might qualify for. Am I required to have health insurance?
Yes, by March 31st, 2014 every resident, with few exceptions
will be required to have health coverage. Otherwise
you may have to pay a penalty when you file for your 2014 taxes.
If you already have coverage through your job, private insurance or government program
like Medicaid,
there's no need to worry about this penalty. But if you currently don't have
coverage
go to GetCoveredIllinois.gov to explore your coverage options
by answering a few questions. For many,
that will mean shopping on the Health Insurance Marketplace. What's the Health Insurance
Marketplace?
The Health Insurance Marketplace is an online shopping website, where you can
browse, compare and buy an insurance plan that's right for you.
As an Illinois resident, Get Covered Illinois is where you can take the first step
to shopping the Marketplace.
The Marketplace is the first-of-its-kind, because now, insurance companies will be openly
competing for
your dollars, which helps drive down prices and makes coverage more affordable
for you.
You can also find out if you are eligible for financial help from the
federal government to help you pay for your private insurance plan.
And thanks to the new health care law, you can no longer be denied insurance
due to pre-existing conditions
or charged more for simply being a woman. How do I know if I'm eligible for financial
help?
By visiting GetCoveredIllinois.gov, you can find the green box and
click on "See Your Options" to answer a few short questions.
Based on your answers, you might find that you're the perfect candidate to shop the
Marketplace.
Or you might qualify for Medicaid. Either way
it's likely you'll qualify for financial help. In Illinois
Medicaid has been expanded. Find out if you might qualify for Medicaid or
financial help through the Marketplace
by visiting GetCoveredIllinois.gov and explore your coverage options,
by answering a few questions. What's that deadline again?
You could buy insurance right now through the Health Insurance Marketplace
during the open enrollment period. Open enrollment will last through March 31st
2014. If you need reminders to enroll,
