Hi to everyone! My name is Julio Valle! Today I decided to do a lesson, my first lesson on youtube!
I hope you can learn a lot and you can use enough!
Many people on facebook had asked me for why I not uploaded neoclassical videos? and if
I was not enjoying neoclassical? and things like that. So the truth, Yes sure, I always
keep hearing neoclassical, I love classical music, and all that, but maybe I had not focused on it,
because I'm listening to a very interesting genre called Djent! :)
to begin the lesson we will have today is about arpeggios with tappings,
if you noticed, at the beginning of the video I play a fragment of a neoclassical piece, the composer of that
piece is Vitalij Kuprij and the guitarist is Greg Howe, as you know Greg Howe is a big
influence for me, so I decided to do a lesson of the arpeggios that he makes!
For me one of the most interesting things about the guitar is that we can take any pattern of notes,
and do as we want! On the guitar there can be 5 or more different ways to make any pattern of notes!
For example: this D minor arpeggio, too many guitarist we do like this!
But there are other possibilities for the same arpeggio, and it will sound different!
so here's where every guitarist contributes his own creativity, that's why in guitar there are many possibilities to do things,
that's why studying guitar is very endless, because everyone brings new things!
For example the same arpeggio we could do:
So here we have two different ways.
The second way is like Greg Howe makes them, so now I will explain the section that we hear at the beginning of the video.
To start, this is a run of neoclassical arpeggios, We start with the D minor arpeggio, starting it from an A note, and makes this:
Then does the same on the third string:
Then returns. And the first pattern is this:
I am going to repeat:
Then we make a Bb arpeggio! Just change the tapping Halftone up, and we get.
Then we make the C#º7 arpeggio, this is a little easier!
Then return to Dm
Then return to Bb, This is maybe the most difficult because we have to stretch alot the hand.
Then we make ammm ammm? Abº7, this is easy because it is symmetrical in the two strings.
And finally, we make a run on the D harmonic minor scale, that would be like this:
Then comes an interesting arpeggio, in which Greg Howe takes two shapes of arpeggios, that is Eb arpeggio in this shape,
And he take this another shape!
So that he does is mix that two shapes, one whit tapping and the other with the left hand.
Practically what he does is: Hammer, Tapping, Pull off! Hammer, Tapping, Pull off! I will explain it:
Hammer, Tapping, Pull off! Hammer, Tapping,Pull off!
and so on, then we make a run whit tapping over the D melodic minor scale!
that is like this:
At the end it have a chromatic that makes that it case with time!
So there is! It is a little difficult but with a lot of practice goes on!
I am going to play it all together in a slow tempo and then I'll play fast!
As I mentioned before, this sequence of arpeggios with tapping
we also can do with sweep picking! Obviously it going to have a different result
but is another possibility! With sweep picking would be:
Obviously not sound the same!
Well, this is it. I hope you find it useful! You know I'm available for guitar lessons, you just have to send me an inbox on facebook,
or by e-mail, and if you want thar I record guitars and be part of your album,
just sendme an e-mail! I hope you enjoy the video! See you later! :)
