Hi! I'm Daniel on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, we're going to be drilling the
base hole that the lock slides in to on our sliding glass door. We've already taken the
lock off, marked our holes, or where we're going to drill for it. We're going to go ahead
and put the lock back on. Once it's back on, just double check that the hole's going to
be in the right spot. Once you've taken it off, you're going to want to use the punch,
just to put a light dimple in the aluminum so that our drill bit does not wander. Simply enough to keep our drill bit from wandering.
Now I'm starting with an 1/8 inch drill bit. We need to get up to a 1/2 inch for our hole.
But an 1/8 inch will allow us to be sure, to double check that we're not going to have
a problem with the glass. And we want to go slow and steady. Alrighty. Once the drill
bit went through the door, you'll notice that it actually went in and hit the back of the
aluminum. We know we are very clear of our insulation sheet here, so we should be good
to go ahead and go to the half-inch.
