Hello and welcome to The Anticipated. the weekly show that gives you the reason to be
excited for an upcoming game.
This week, we'll be looking at The Elder Scrolls Online.
While this may seem like Bethesda's first venture into the online RPG format, it isn't...well...sorta.
You see, back in 2006, roumours circulated that Bethesda was working on an unnanounced
online RPG, later revealed to be Fallout Online. This project aimed to to take the nuclear
apocalypce setting online, however, This project never came to be due to the clash between
the publisher and the developer over licencing and the project was eventually cancelled.
The Elder Scrolls Online takes place in the combined lands of Tamriel. While most Elder
Scrolls games have looked at different nations of tamriel, this game aims to bring the entire
world. On launch, most of the continent will be playable with some areas locked out for
future expansion.
The game is set a 1000 years before the events of Skyrim and around 800 years before the
events of Morrowwind and Oblivion. This could do a great deal to show how some of the pronounced
factions, that the series is known for, came into existance.
Back in fall 2011 after the release of Skyrim, a user with the screename of "Malukah" posted
her cover for the song "The Dragonborn Comes" This video recieved praise on all fronts and
became viral and synonymous with great video game covers. It was later revealed that Malukah
will, in fact, be working on composing several tracks for the Elder Scrolls Online. Great
Internet observation Bethesda!
