Welcome to Cengage Learning’s SAM 2013 Online Tutorial Training Series – Creating A Training.
An installment of the Digital Course Support Services self-training video series for Instructors.
Our agenda for this video will be to guide you through creating a training for SAM 2013.
To create a new textbook Training exercise in SAM 2013, select the Training navigational
button on the left of the screen. Once in the Training page, select the Add
New Button. In Step 1, choose Textbook Training. In Step
2, choose the Training’s chapter subject and the textbook that you are using for your
course. Finally, select the OK button. Select the training, move to the right and
select “OK”. There are two tabs where you can input information
regarding the training exercise. In the properties tab, give your training a descriptive name.
Your institution’s SAM Administrator may give you a standardized format to use when
naming training exercises. If you choose to make your training Private, only you will
have access to the training; however, if you make your training public, all instructors
in your institution will have access to the training.
You can also auto-generate a companion exam with tasks related to the applications you
add to your training exercise. In the Questions tab of the Training – you
are able to specify the tasks that you want to appear in your training exercise. When
you select your training’s subject, a list of available training tasks appears. Select
the tasks you want and move them to the Training Questions list on the right of the screen,
save and close. When creating a new Custom Training, you will
choose the New Training button in Step 1. In Step 2, you will choose the subject for
your training and select the tasks you would like to appear in your training exercise and
select “OK”. In this step, you will give the companion
exam its name. Once again, make sure that you use a descriptive name or use the standardized
naming formats approved by your institution. You may also create custom Training Exercises
by copying or merging existing trainings within your private trainings and your institution’s
public trainings lists. To do this, select Existing Training in Step 1. In Step 2, you
will be given a listing of Training exercises related to the subject you have chosen and
to the status of existing Trainings you would like to use, whether they be private or public.
Once your training exercise is created, it will be listed under your Training page in
SAM 2013. Thank you for taking the time to review this
self-training video. Additional support can be found at the Instructor Support page.
