Why do bodybuilders only eat egg whites?
Egg yolks are high in cholesterol and bad fats, while the egg whites are high in protein
with a fraction of the calories.
Eating the whole egg would be more cost effective.
Body builders eating egg whites are enjoying a lower cost protein than red meat and any
protein bar. Throwing out the yolk won’t affect the cost very much.
The whole thing is protein.
Bodybuilders aim to get the most protein for the fewest calories, and for an egg, that
is the white part.
I couldn’t stand an egg omelet without at least one yolk.
The whole egg has 80 calories, while the whites are just 15 to 20. You could make an omelet
with one yolk and four whites to balance protein, calories and flavor.
What do I do with the yolks? They’ll stink up the trash.
Feed it to your dog. Pour it down the drain.
Why are eggs so popular as a protein source?
Egg yolks contain a full complement of amino acids, which soy and peanut powders don’t.
They are cheaper than a can of tuna and way cheaper than a steak.
Why not eat chicken ***?
While they say that everything tastes like chicken, it gets really boring very quickly
no matter how many ways you eat it. Eggs are a low cost alternative.
Peanut butter is a good source of protein, too.
It’s healthier if you get the peanut butter without the added sugar, but that doesn’t
taste very good. Egg whites taste good.
Why do some people eat the whole egg?
They don’t care about the cholesterol, or they are too lazy to separate the yolk from
the eggs.
I’ve seen body builders eat the egg raw claiming it helps them get the most nutrition
out of it.
Until they get salmonella, at which point it is a sure fire weight loss technique.
