And then Bruria
with her tiny hands,
and her delicate face,
prepared herself.
And there...
she is ready.
Bruria is standing in front of the mirror.
Her hands are doing something.
and it shows on her face.
Bruria is shaving her ***,
how lovely.
She is looking in the mirror, watching her face,
the face is 30 years old.
She's watching her ***,
it's 3 years old. She's touching herself down there,
and it's smooth. Curled hair on the floor,
she picks it up with her hands, wraps it in a newspaper,
and throws it away.
PERMANENT
And she's not in a hurry
Matti won't be coming today, but it's some time now
that he stops his car by her building
and he honks, till she comes down.
And he has a small car, an old model,
with plenty of black plastic bags,
and toilette paper torn to shreds, on the dashboard.
He takes her near some kind of a factory.
And Bruria never thought it strange.
Does this fan work?
Open the window.
That's it.
Just one cigarette, okay?
You remember the honk, come down quickly next time.
Yes.
Why do you never come up? -It's no fun.
Maybe next time.
But I just started the Cigarette. -So what?
Do you want to hear a poem I wrote? -Not now.
Bruria sometimes wants to be with Matti in daylight,
to walk with him on the beach.
They'd run on the warm sand, the wind caressing their hair.
Than caressing of the body, and all the people
on distant ships, would look at them,
and wouldn't believe.
But Matti would say that only at night and only in the car
and nowhere else.
Do you have water in the car? -What for?
I'm thirsty. Everything's shut and stuffy, I'm thirsty.
There's some under the chair.
What's that? -Water.
What kind of water is it?
Water for the radiator.
And Bruria has a family.
It's not like she is alone,
it's not that she has nowhere to go.
It could be like my own family, exactly the same.
Her mother could be a hairdresser,
and Bruria would sometimes help her.
She sits there waiting,
without anybody saying a word, she gets up
and cleans.
Bruria once thought of what her mother does.
And she knew.
Her mother is making the world prettier.
And there's a reason to do so.
I'm so cold.
You'll get warm soon.
Take the shirt off.
I'm getting off. -Throw this away, will you?
See you.
It's a pity Dad isn't here. He'd have dyed it better than you.
You need to learn some more,
that way you would have another profession.
Sometimes Bruria wants to tell her Mom about Matti,
but she doesn't know what to say.
And she knows that if someone ever asks,
she'll say that Matti treats her right
and that they truly love one another.
I brought you something. -What?
It's new. -Yes, I can see the label.
Thanks. -You can also sing the song you sang.
My tiny hands won't touch it,
and my miserable feet won't know it. But it runs in the genes
or it doesn't run at all.
My thirsty eyes won't drink from it,
and my big ears won't listen to it.
But it runs in the genes and it runs in the blood
or it doesn't run at all.
And it's for years - yes and it's human - yes
and it's simple, and it's destructive, but it's natural.
Mom, strangle me.
Why don't you let me do things to you?
Why don't you ever play music?
What things?
Why don't you let me shove it to you? -What for?
You'd love it. -But it's dirty.
I'll clean it up. -How will you clean it up?
Does it turn you on? -You're a pervert, you know?
You'll love it.
So, at least shut the window.
I, I don't want to go with you in the car anymore.
Don't come over anymore, I won't go with you.
Now,
you'll drive off, okay?
I...
I'll manage.
When she returned home,
Matti came by her building and honked like a mad man,
and Bruria didn't come down.
She stood and waited.
She knew it had to end,
and there...
She's standing in front of the mirror,
her hands are doing something, and it hurts.
Bruria thinks that this would stop it,
but she knows,
Matti will come back,
and everything will start over.
`Cause it runs in the genes
and it runs in the blood
or it doesn't run at all.
My Mom once told me,
that when I'm sad, I should imagine myself happy.
Instead, I imagined the others feeling bad
until I felt even worse.
Go get someone,
call an ambulance.
I should imagine myself happy.
How lovely.
And the caress would caress the body... making the world prettier...
only this time she'll come back on her own... At night...
She'll say that Matti treats her well.
Matti will come back. It's simple... and everything
will start over.
Mom, hug me.
