Hi, everyone.
I'm Kalyn Hemphill, your style expert.
Everyone knows it's the finishing touches
that make an outfit complete.
I'm going to show you the best ways to accessorize,
using a tried and true fashion must-have -- the belt.
I know, some of you may cringe at the idea of drawing attention
to your waistline, but when worn properly, a belt can add really
fun style, a pop of color, and actually define your waist
in a flattering way.
Here's the thing: not every belt works with every outfit or every
body type, so let's find some looks that will work for you.
The great thing about belts is that you don't have to spend
a lot of money to get a range of styles.
Some of these were under $10.
Animal prints are really in this season, so you can easily
and inexpensively update the look of a dress
by adding this trend to your outfit.
There are no strict rules when it comes to fashion, of course,
but here are some guidelines to make sure
if you're working a belt, it's working for you, too.
A belt that gets its pattern from texture rather than color
gives you a lot more options, like this faux snakeskin belt.
Wrap it around a sweater dress, and you're good to go.
A skinny belt adds detail to your waist without drawing
too much attention to it.
Use it to cinch a floral dress and you'll keep
the feminine style while adding a bit of sophistication.
Wider belts can be a lot of fun, but be careful.
When it comes to belts, size is not necessarily better.
Choose a darker color wide belt to slenderize your waist,
and look for elastic materials, which tend to be more
comfortable for wearing higher on the body.
The real trick to making a belt work is positioning.
In general, you want to cinch the narrowest part of your
torso, but sometimes your sweet spot will be a little higher
or lower than your natural waistline.
When layering a skinny belt, place it below your rib cage
but above your navel to create a tiny waist.
Wider belts should be worn closer to your rib cage.
This will draw the eye up and away from your hips,
creating a slimming look.
To give some shape to a boxy, formless dress, the kind that
can look slightly like a sack, select a wide belt to define
your curves hiding under all that fabric.
To finish off the look, add a spark of color to your face
with a lip stain.
There are so many shades to choose from,
and it will last for hours.
While it can take a bit of getting used to,
wearing a belt around your waistline is definitely worth
the fashion experiment.

Thanks for watching, see you next time.
