On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole and I'm here to tell you about corn snakes. The
most common health problem in a corn snake is the retain shed. This happens at the very
tips of its tail see how it's very very thin the corn snakes tail is very thin. When it
comes to shedding it's kind of difficult to get the skin off at the very tip of this tail
here. This corn snake tail here is a result of a retain shed now what happened is the
skin did not shed from this area of the tail. What it has done it kind of cut off the circulation
right around this area here and caused an affection underneath the skin. What we need
to do to correct this problem is basically keep it moist, we have been soaking this guy
several times a day in very warm water. Afterwards we tried to get some of this shed skin off
and uncovered this wound that is underneath this tail, underneath the shed skin here.
Another way we keep it moist is when he's not soaking the water we moisturize it with
triple antibiotic ointment try and keep it moist enough to where it will come off when
he tries to pull it off or rub it off.
