Today we are going to make Moong dal halwa.
Everyone likes to eat moong dal halwa.
Moong dal halwa is made easily.
Moong dal halwa can be made for any party, festival or whenever you want to eat it.
Come, let’s prepare moong dal halwa.
Ingredients required for making moong dal halwa.
Moong dal - ½ cup or 100 gram Wash the dal and soak in water for about 2 hours.
Mawa - ½ cup or 125 gram
We can take 100 gram mawa also
Sugar (Cheeni) - ¾ cup or 150 gram
Ghee - ½ cup or 100 gram
Green cardamom - 4
Raisins (Kishmish) - 1 tbsp
Cashew nuts (Kaju) - 20 to 25
Almonds (Badam) - 7 to 8
Pistachios (Pista) - 10 to 12
To make moong dal halwa, first we’ll grind the moong dal.
Add the moong dal to a grinder.
Without adding water, coarsely grind it.
Grind all the dal.
Our dal is grounded.
Now let us roast the dal.
Heat a pan and add oil to it.
Leave 2-3 tbsp ghee for later use.
Once the ghee is melted, add grounded moong dal to it.
Keep stirring continuously and cook on medium or low flame till it becomes a little brown in colour and we get a fragrance from it.
The quantity of ghee and dal should be equal.
If the oil is less, then it can stick to the bottom of the pan.

The oil has separated from the dal. Our moong dal is now fried.
It took us 15 minutes to roast the dal.
Keep the moong dal aside.
Roast the mawa in a separate wok.
Keep stirring the dal as it is still hot and it can burn.
Add ghee to a pan and let it melt.
Once the ghee is melted, add crumbled mawa to it.
Cook it on medium or low flame till there is a little change in colour and we get a fragrance from it.
Turn off the flame, once the mawa is roasted.
Our mawa is now roasted.
Add the mawa on top of the dal.
Now take a wok to prepare syrup.
Add ¾ cup sugar to a pan to make a syrup.
Add 1 ½ cup water to it.
Cook it till the sugar completely dissolves in water.
You can increase or decrese the quantity of sugar as per your choice.
Let’s cut the dry fruits and prepare a powder of cardamom, till our sugar syrup is prepared.
Cut one cashew nut into 6-7 pieces.
Cut the almonds into thin slices.
Now cut the pistachios into thin slices.
The sugar is completely dissolved in water and our syrup is ready.
Now add the syrup to the dal and mawa.
Cook on medium flame.
Cook it till it has a thick consistency.
Add the dryfruits to the halwa.
Add cashews, almonds, raisins and pistachios to it.
You can add dry fruits as per your choice.
Cook till the halwa has a thick consistency.
Now add cardamom powder.
Mix it well.
Our moong dal halwa is now ready.
Turn off the flame.
Take it out in a bowl.
Before serving the moong dal halwa, add desi ghee on top in this way.
This increases the taste of the halwa.
Garnish the halwa with pistachios and almonds.
Our moong dal halwa is now ready.
This halwa is very tasty.
Store the moong dal halwa and enjoy eating it for upto 1 week.
This quantity is sufficient for 3-4 members of the family.
