Hyundai Motor Thailand celebrates 5th anniversary this year
And raises up its pavillion standards to "more globally assessment and luxury"
And on main stage here,"I-oniq" aka HED8 becomes the main attractive
The I-oniq exhibited in Thailand as first country in ASEAN
As an electric-drive hatchback with evolution and inspiration
This brought here "new design and technologies" which represented as impression of Hyundai company's future way to build cars
It runs as pure electric drive, and also as Hybrid (electricity and gasoline)
Its heart is 1.0L 3-cyl petrol engine with 61 horsepower (45 kw), mated with planetary-type transmission
And mated with 80 kw lithium-ion electric motor (109 HP)
For ability of "120km distance" per one full charge in "electric-only" mode, and up to 700km distance if together with petrol engine
Meanwhile, CO2 emitting rate at only 45g per km
Its maximum speed is 145 km/h while in "electricity and gasoline" mode
Exterior design are "Dynamic proportions", with profile lines of "Coupe" car all-round
Front headlamps help represent vehicle's "advancing" of technologies
HED8's unique wheels
Dunlop tyres, 225/45ZR20
"Dual Arch Curves" roof lines
Its 2 doors are gullwing doors
Fulfilled interior with futuristic design, luxurious & comfort, absolute connectivity, then with warm feel inside
"Touch Sensor" steering wheel, with Motion Control system
"Acrylic-Cluster" multi-layered projection display
In here is 2 + 2 seats scheme
And also offers "maximum visibility" to occupants
And since it has beared HED codename, so that's definitely designed and developed from Europe
And that's by Hyundai's European R&D centre in Germany, Thomas Bürkle takes charge with this project as Chief designer
4,432mm length, 1,916mm width, 1,400mm height, and 2,650mm wheelbase
Hyundai also introduces an alternate high-end version of the 7-seater Grand Starex
To commemorate HMT's fine 5-year business
This edition may not about facelift, but several features definitely different from the first VIP version
You will see the difference inside and out
Electric-powered dual sliding doors
Special body decals, only for this edition
Upper spoiler with wide high mounted stop lamp
"PREMIUM marque" at the back
Rear view camera
Quad-dot parking sensors (rear)
Foldable electric adjust side mirrors
At interior, front row may similar to VIP version
H-Matic 5-speed automatic
Now, the interior difference from this edition starts
As can see, counter bar behind first row has removed
So gave more space to second row
And fitted this ceiling-mount 10.2 inch LCD screen instead
No negative effect to vehicle's main strong selling point at all
And still powered by D4CB 2.5 DOHC 16V Direct Injection Common-Rail engine with Variable Geometry Turbo & Intercooler
175HP, Euro IV
So this edition built to aim for family leisure with more luxury and space, rather than for serious businessmen
You can still expect next new Hyundai vehicles to be added in HMT lineup by this snake year
Tune of "Gangnam Style" louds here like no need to expect
