Hi I'm Jessica Smith with Blands Nursery in West Jordan, Utah and today we are talking
all about trees. Right now we are going to discuss the Australian Tea Tree. Now this
is a coastal type of a tree. It doesn't even grow here. Native into Australia obviously,
it will get anywhere from about 10 to 30 feet in height and about the same in width. It
is a very knotty looking kind of a contorted growing tree. The dried leaves are used to
make tea. Now if you are growing in a coastal area and want to try this, go ahead and make
sure you use an organic matter when you plant and be aware that once it is there it needs
to stay there. It doesn't like to be moved and pruning on it you want to be really careful
because sometimes it will not regrowth or resprout off of a pruned cut. Also make sure
you let it dry out well in between waterings. It can root rot very easily.
