Ask Mychele Anything
I don't know everything...
or Mondays with Mychele. Hi it's monday
and I'm here preparing to teach Zumba at Holman United Methodist Church here
I teach here on Mondays at seven thirty
love love love my crowd here. Love my family here
we've been here since february so its a special place
I'm going to address one of the the questions that was posed to me by Veronica.
uh... veronica is awesome. She is a diva that has made a lot of progress
with her weight loss and just fitness and change of lifestyle. So I want to say
hi Veronica!
I am not, first and foremost, a nutritionist. So anything I say about about food
you know...health, I do know more about a have certification for that but
nutritionist I am not
so this is partially opinion
partially research and I just want to talk about
Veronica's question...what were my feelings about juicing. Okay, my feelings
not what science says
my feelings.
we all know if we look at the FDA recommendations you have your food
pyramid and they recommend three to five fruits a day
which is awesome
and some people want to say that they want to replace the juice uh...the juice
is going to replace the fruit intake
and from the research that I've done and this is you know research and reading
the books that I have for my certifications as well and doing some internet
research. There's no right or wrong way
there
is a benefit
to juicing because you get to blend
different fruits and vegetables together and get different benefits of nutrients
and macro and micro nutrients from
the juices
but what's left over, depending on what kind of machine you're using
is the fiber
and the fiber that's in the juice is what's going to help cleanse your body.
and I'm not saying a juice cleanse. I'm not saying that whole thing where you have the cayenne pepper
and water and lemon...I'm not talking about that
I'm talking about the natural benefits of fiber. Fiber is non soluble
the in the body. So when fiber goes in and whether it's through..if
if you had a bran muffin or through the fruits and vegetables, it goes through your body and acts like a
little broom and sweeps everything out
so if you're juicing using a juicing machine
then you're going to
lose some of that. So I wouldn't say to anyone, again because I'm not a nutritionist
I can't say if you juice all day long you don't have to eat fruit. No, you want to
have the fruit and vegetable intake to get
all that that fruit or vegetable has to offer
so again it's my opinion
uh... I think the juicing is wonderful. Myself, I love kale
kale and strawberries, I think it's such a great combination. I love naked juices
the combinations that they have...the protein, or the health boosters
and the all those things like that..the mangos and
you notice that you have a better blend--a better taste of some people can't
tolerate vegetables--they can't fathom or wrap around in their minds and say hey
i'm gonna keep eat this vegetable. It's better
tolerated it if they juice it.
so that's one thing. So again no right or wrong way, no one way
this is just my opinion Veronica.
and I know Veronica is an avid juicer. I mean she has beets
and spinach
mango banana wonderful things you put together
fruits and vegetable together--Makes me feel like Ratatouille, you know that Disney movie.
it's like oh, I can taste the fruit I can taste the mango. I can taste the
papaya
I can taste the pineapple
so that's wonderful! It's a great way to blend the two but yeah, one doesn't replace
the other definitely. That's like saying if you boil a broccoli some broccoli as
opposed to
eating a broccoli raw
or if a broccoli is canned or frozen
it's still broccoli but when it changes composition
you're going to lose some of the the nutrients that are in there depending on how
it's cooked or how its eaten. So not saying that raw is better or worse just saying that
you have to understand that the status of the vegetable or fruit that it's
in naturally has the best benefits for you. But is there one right way, one wrong way?..No
So that's the fruiting and the juicing.
drive by fruiting...like Mrs. Doubtfire
anyway, I love that movie
Hi Robin Williams. So that's my answer to that question
by later on would this have a little
freestyle little answer question thing. I think there's some other
things that I wanted to
touch on
just about to upcoming things that are changing from my schedule for the month
of May and for June. So we'll talk about that when we come back from the rest of
the video...Okay, bye guys for now. Ta ta!
