Welcome to Château Grand Boise
25 kilometers from Aix en Provence,
in a magical place, facing the Mount Sainte-Victoire.
The Wine Estate
Chateau Grand Boise is surrounded by three mountainous massifs
the Sainte-Victoire to the North,
the Sainte Baume to the South
and Mount Olympe to the East.
In fact Mont Olympe is as famous as Sainte-Victoire
10 years ago the Musée de l’Homme has digged out
the skeleton of a dinosaur called Pyroraptor Olympius.
Chateau Grand Boise was created in 1610
and only three families have owned it
right up to the present day.
I am very attached to Château Grand Boise,
because I was born here,
and I’ve worked here for 25 years
just as my father and grandfather did before me.
The estate consists of 44 hectares of vineyards
spread over 77 plots
at heights of from 250 to 630 metres.
38 kilometres of tracks give access to the property.
In Grand Boise, we make white, red and rosé wines
with the appellations of Cotes de Provence and Sainte-Victoire.
The vine varieties consist of
grenache, cinsault, carignan,
cabernet-sauvignon and syrah for the black grapes,
and rolle, ugni and semillon for the white.
We use neither weedkiller nor synthetic fertiliser
and this year we have introduced beehives,
It’s worth pointing out
that bees are extremely sensitive to pesticides.
We also have a herd of sheep
which lets us fertilise our vines.
Additionally the oldest vineyards, planted in 1910 and 1920
are worked by animal power, ploughing with horses.
Ten years ago, we re-introduced
the tradition of Provencal "Vin Cuit",
heated in a copper cauldron,
and all provencal families
have a bottle of Vin Cuit at Christmas on the table.
Chateau Grand Boise can also welcome you...
to taste our wines
to celebrate a family or professional event...
... in this magical place.
