We navigate enchanting Highland waterways on this relaxing five-night cruise and two-night city break.
We begin with an overnight stay in Edinburgh, and you have time to explore this magnificent city and to see Edinburgh Castle, a mighty symbol of Scotland's turbulent past.
In the morning, our group travels by train to the fishing village of Oban where we board the luxury ship MV Lord of the Glens.
There's time to explore Oban before the captain's welcome on board.
We moor overnight and our morning walking tour includes the local whisky distillery.
We sail through Loch Linnhe into spectacular coastal scenery of the Sound of Mull, and cross to Craignure on the unspoilt Isle of Mull to see picture postcard views and visit Duart Castle, the Maclean clan's ancestral home.
Then we cruise to Tobermory, the island's colourfully painted capital.
On Day 4, we sail to mainland Corpach at the head of the Caledonian Canal. Here we take a rail excursion providing breathtaking Highland scenery on the West Highland Line to Glenfinnan.
After mooring overnight we begin with our ascent through the 8 locks of Neptune's Staircase to continue through picturesque Loch Lochy and Loch Oich, and on to Fort Augustus village on the banks of Loch Ness, with time to explore before our overnight stay.
On the morning of Day 6 we cruise mystical Loch Ness and sail past the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle.
We sail on through Loch Dochfour to reach Inverness, our cruise destination.
The next morning, we bid farewell to MV Lord of the Glens and to the brooding Cairngorms, and travel by train to reach Edinburgh with enough time for afternoon sightseeing
before our second night in this historic Scottish capital at the end of our relaxing cruise and city break.
