Next, we have how to set up the snare drum. I like to have it just a little bit higher
than my waist. That just feels the most comfortable for me. Because if it's too high up here,
for example, like this, then how am I going to play that along with everything else? You
know, it's just going to be very uncomfortable - I'm going to have all sorts of problems.
And this stand doesn't get any lower, but if it did, you know, I kind of have a problem
with that too because then you'll be playing the drum way down here. So you'll have one
hand up here and one way down there. That's not going to work out for you. So, just about
waist level. A little bit higher, a little bit lower. It's okay. Again, it's whatever
you feel is most comfortable. But it's also important to get the tilt right. I like to
tilt it a little bit towards me. I mean, you can keep it flat like this. That's completely
flat. But I like to get some bounce. When it's on a tilt, the stick will kind of fall
when you get down with it. Now if you play traditional grip, like some people - old jazz
drummers do. They tilt the drum away from them because that's the style like in the
old marching bands. Like you see the colonial drummers, they have the drum off to their
sides so they have to play like that and it's always tilted. See? So that is snare drum
height and tilt.
