In the name of Allah (SWT), Most Merciful, Most Beneficent.
My God, to you I complain of a Nafs (self) which commands -or leads- (me) to Evildoings.
A self which initiates (unnecessary, excessive) sins.
A self fond of disobeying You.
And prone to Your discontent!
And leads me to (the) courses of damnation.
And transforms me to the cheapest mortal (in Your Eyes).
A self full of ills.
A self far from hope.
When evil touches this self, it panics
And when good touches this self, it prevents
A self inclined to (worthless, excessive) fun and play.
A self filled with negligence and distraction (from Thee)
It hastens me to ignorance.
And procrastinates me from atonement.
My God! I complain to You of any enemy who leads me astray (from Thee)
And a Devil (Shatan) who seduces me (into disobeying Thee!)
A Devil who filled my chest with (sinful) temptations.
A Devil who surrounded my heart with (unnecessary) concerns.
A Devil who joins (my attention) to sinful passions.
And decorates for me the love of this (perishing) world.
And drags me away from Your Obedience. 23 0:02:43:000 --> 0:02:52.000 My God! I complain to Thee of a cruel heart.
A heart which desserts me for the sake of the Devil (Shatan).
A heart obsessed by your disobedience.
I (too) complain of an eye which never tears for Thee.
Ambitious to whatever (sinful sight) pleases it!
My God! I have no power in me without Your Might!
And there is no salvation for me from the evils of this world, without your Preservation.
So I ask you by the Eloquence of Your Wisdom and the Force of Your Will
That you do not expel me from Your Kingdom (of Mercy).
And that You leave no motive for troubles in me.
And that You stand by me against my enemies.
And be on my shame and scandals a Veil.
And be from any disasters a Protector.
And be to me from your disobediences a Preserver.
I ask You, Oh Allah, by Your Sweetness and Mercy, Oh Most Merciful!
