I tried a couple of different colleges but nowhere besides here felt like home. This
is where you want to be, this is where I want to be. The people here are great, the teachers
are great. What stands out in my mind at Southern Miss, I would have to say G.E.W.W. First and
foremost that's where you make your first set of friends and all the different organizations
you become a part of here. I'm doing the ROTC, where I have a whole other set of friends.
It's an opportunity to give back to your country that's done so much for you already. It's
kind of busy on some days. For example on Tuesdays I'll get up at five o'clock so I
can get a little bit of breakfast in me. Then I go do PT with the Army at six o'clock. Then
my net class starts at nine-thirty which is History with a retired lieutenant colonel
from the army, surprisingly enough. We'll do themes in military leadership. From there,
I go to my ROTC class at 11, based on whatever topic that is. After that I've got a 30 minute
break for lunch. So, I'll get lunch whereever I can. I usually try to go to the Agora because
it's close. At one o'clock I've got another class, it's my database for my major class.
So I'm in there until 2:15. At 2:30, I go to my last class of the day on Tuesday which
is my Web Design and Development class. Southern Miss is like home to me because when you first
get here you've got that Golden Eagle Welcome Week, G.E.W.W. where the entire university
pretty much shuts down for the week. They'll just take you out and show you "Hey, this
is where everything is on campus." They'll explain the history of it. So I think "Southern
Miss to The Top", not only is it a chant, a cheer and battle cry for us at football
games but it's something we take to heart.
