Alright, good morning everybody.Goodmorning Mrs. Moye Welcome to Walking Wednesday. Yey!
We are here because we want everyone one of you to be good students You know what it takes
to be a good student? No. Alright I know all of you know. You do your homework, you do
your assignments you have all of your supplies. The other part of being a good students is
to come to school everyday and the reason you come to school everyday is when you are
not sick right and when you are not healthy. The other way we stay healthy is to be in
good shape and to exercise and that why we instituted Walking Wednesdays last year. And
we’re very happy that we have Ms. Sheila Swann-Guerrero who has initiated all of this
for us. So let’s give a hand to Ms. Sheila Swann-Guerrero. OK. The Illinois Department
of Transportation has provided funding for your school to have an inclusive which mean
programs for children of all abilities to safely walk and bike to school. It’s called
Safe Routes to School. Biking is part of it and so today we have adaptive bikes that are
provided by Project Mobility that are here for sports day and some children the teachers
know who which children they have chosen will be on bikes. If you are not on a bike you
will be walking and this again is part of the whole program that Mrs. Moye and all the
teachers have put together for you to do every Wednesday. Most Wednesdays. Basically, I’m
going to keep this short and I’m going to say thank you were going to go around the
school and teachers will know the distance however what they decide and its all about
walking and biking being more active going to and from school. All around the United
States they’re looking to this school cuz this is one of the only schools in the whole
United States that is having a program like yours here for children with and without disabilities
to walk and bike to school. So you have a very very important role and I want you to
and I want to say thank you for being a part of it.
