I am Julius Frost.
I've been in all sorts of action in The Zeitgeist Movement.
I saw Zeitgeist: Moving Forward less than three months ago.
Then I just joined the Zeitgeist Facebook group and
I found out that there are a lot of people who stay on top of
what's happening in the world.
I also got curious and suddenly
I found myself among the Zeitgeist members, doing things:
I was spreading out the movement flyers two weeks after I saw Moving Forward.
Why I support the idea of the movement
is that I am interested in developing what comes my way.
For instance I really like technology. I love technology!
It's one of my biggest passions.
And I want to develop that for the rest of my life
but on the other hand societal models and their development also interests me.
I am in the process of seeking my own view of the
best possible social and economic model.
And maybe it is this resource based economy that is based on science and logic
or maybe it is something else.
Why I support the idea behind the movement is that I like developing everything,
everything that comes my way.
For instance I really like technology
I love technology.
It's one of my biggest passions and
I want to developt that for the rest of my life.
But I also see that I am very interested in social models
and developing those interests me a lot.
I am just compiling my own view of the best
possible social and economic model.
Maybe it is this resource based economy that is based on science and logic
or maybe something else.
Let's say someone claims that the resource based economy does not work
and let's say we test it out
and it turns out that for whatever the reason it just doesn't work,
In my mind that's only a message that it needs further development
I don't think we should just dump it, go and bury it,
because since this is driven by science and logic and science
tends to develop all the time.
I don't know much about the history of the movement
but my own history in it started in The Night of the Arts 2011
where we promoted the idea of the movement pretty well.
The biggest achievements that I've witnessed
in the movement are exactly these bigger events
like the national Zeitgeist meeting where
we can tell people face-to-face
our thoughts and receive ideas to further develop the way we operate.
As for future of the movement it can go many ways.
It depends a lot how active we are
how many people we get along and
first and foremost our future depends on how
we are able to communicate with people and reach understanding.
It's very important.
That's what our future depends on: ourselves.
It appears that there are no problems in Finland:
the GDP growth has for long been steady...
But if we dig deeper
and start measuring our well-being with statistics
regarding violent crime, mental health and other similar measures
we see that our well-being by no means correlates with
the GDP growth.
Our well-being has not been growing lately.
We can't call it growth.
I don't see the contemporary model of society as ideal
if we thrive, in a way, because of the poverty in the third world countries.
I'd really love to develop this to a direction
where everyone's well-being could grow.
I'm in this for all the world's people, including the viewer of this video,
like everyone else in the movement.
I reckon this is a very long process because
many capitalists wish to maintain their values
and of course everyone wishes to do the same.
I think we should continue the grass-roots action,
continue developing eco cities and the like,
to create test environments.
The last thing I want is to
defend my own views
until the end and fight
those who disagree.
I'd say it's much more fruitful
to stop arguing and start
creating those test environments.
Hey, let's bet on various economic models.
Only by trying out we can truly find out
how things really are.
The only way is to test in practice.
We should always keep in mind that
what we know and what kind of knowledge we seek right at the moment
dictates our future quite a bit.
If I seek for knowledge regarding various economic models today
maybe tomorrow I'll change my mind.
We have to be cautious judging that a certain economic model does not work.
Let's rather start developing that,
test it out, learn from mistakes and develop more.
Locally.
I find the saying pretty accurate:
"Think global, Act local!"
