This is not a building where rebels, the Free Syrian Army or their supporters hide.
This is "Dar Al Hanan" for elderly care. It is being targeted with bombs and bullets
We are scared. The shelling is too loud. I fear that my bed is going to fly because the shelling is too heavy.
Since the shelling on the city started 3 months ago,
Elders have been suffered the lack of medicine, food and care.
I have one kidney and Renal failure in the other one.
Their stories are endless. This woman was a former horse rider. She took refuge in the streets after her health got worse.
And this man was a coffee maker when he lost his way and ended up in the this elderly care house in Deir Az-Zoor
He must use medicines, and now for one, two, or three months medications is not available.
I'm unable to do anything. I don't know where I am. I don't know what to do. I ask Allah to help me.
The deteriorating security conditions forced them to burry 3 old people in the garden of the house.
Some of them where sniped, and others passed away because of their fear of the loud sound of shelling.
What killed this woman is a sniper's bullet. And the rest are like what you saw in this visit.
They are scared and terrified of what goes on around them.
They spoke of terrifying moments they have experienced where there was no water or electricity.
The hardship of the elders in this house is beyond description. Despite their poverty and illness,
They refused to talk to us about their misery, as they remember the saying which remind us of having mercy on previously important people.
