I did a story, the Statue of Liberty is now open and accessible to
wheelchairs. First-time in the history of the Statue of Liberty that that happens
and so I got a chance to go up with a a Vietnam vet for the first time ever
and it was one of the most profound experiences that I've ever had in my
life. He said it to me
"I always feel rejected
because I can't to do
and i can do now"
and so one of the other veterans that went up, it was a gentleman who
looks absolutely normal, but lost most of his hip
and it will be facing some surgery in in the coming months
and what he said was "I look fine right? But the psychological impact is so great I
don't think I will ever recover."
So this is what is coming back to us from these wars that we have and Jim
I am unbelievably proud that you have taken some leadership on this
because we desperately need it. I love what you do for autism, for children
with disabilities and the fact that you look at human capital altogether
congratulations to you.
