We went for it. We tried to not give a damn.
What'd you do to your hair?
Playing the cancer-stricken, pill-popping matriarch of Violet in August: Osage County
has earned Meryl Streep a record 18th nomination at The Oscars. And as one of Hollywood's most
popular actresses, it's only normal that others would want to watch and learn from her.
Sometimes you do have the feeling, people watch, you know. Like early days. That's why
it's great to have rehearsal because you get all that out of the way.

The film also stars two British actors - Ewan McGregor, as Meryl mentioned and Benedict
Cumberbatch - a man she's full of praise for.

I mean he plays someone completely different than all the other performances we've seen.
He's very tender and wounded and bruised and tentative. He fit into this Oklahoma family
just effortlessly. I was surprised to learn that he was British. I didn't know that.
You don't eat meat of any kind? Right, when you eat meat, you ingest an animal's fear.

August: Osage County is in cinemas now.
