Hi, this is Stephanie with Book Bore Brides and our Wedding Trends 2013. Where we will
review the result of our recent Wedding Pro Survey as promised.
Steph: So this is what the Wedding Pro Survey looks like and I figured that the easiest
way to talk about the result was to show them to you.
So here are the survey results: In the survey we asked a series of 10 questions
that pretty simple, straightforward, and we had over 500 wedding vendors respond. If you
didn’t take the survey, you still can. We still gonna include the link below this video
as well or on the page if you reading this, or watching this on the blog.
So first about you. We wanted to know what type of wedding business
do you have, so the largest portions of our wedding vendors are DJs, wedding or event
planners and photographers and then we have people from these other groups as well as
you can see here. We asked how long have you been in business?
So the vast majority of people are 22.1% of people have been in the business for 5-10
years and if we add up the number of people who have been in business from between 1 and
10 years we get over 50%. So most of our audience has been in the business for at least a year
but not usually more than 15. Where is your business located?
I am not going through all the individual answers from this one, most of the wedding
businesses in our Book More Brides audience are in United States although we have a decent
number from UK, Australia, New Zealand, and some people from Israel, Mexico and there
abouts as well. So, all over the English speaking world and here we start asking…what type
of informational video would you enjoy watching the most? We give these few choices, powerpoint,
screen capture, Steph and Jeff LIVE, Steph, Jeff and a Big *** Whiteboard or other.
So the most popular choice with 37.6% of people voting for it was Steph and Jeff LIVE. So
you’re going to continue to see us live in our videos but in the other comments, people
were suggesting really whatever gets the point across the best and they like a combination
of live video with screen capture and power point. So we are going to continue to do that
and through in the Big *** Whiteboard, we haven’t actually done one of these videos
yet just to see if anybody is interested, and it was our least popular choice. So we
may actually do one just so that you can look this gigantic whiteboard that Jeff just built
and he can show off to you. That’s for another day.
So we asked How Do You Prefer to Read Articles of Interest?
Most people prefer to read articles in their email followed by PDF documents and blog posts.
So what I think we’re gonna do more of, you’ll going to see longer emails from us
with articles of value right in them, so you can read them right from your email. We’ll
test that out and see if that would be valuable for most people but it seems like that is
what they would like. So here we asked about interests.
We asked, “What is the biggest challenge or frustration your business faces in 2013?”
And we got lot of responses, so will not go through all of them, but I will summarize
them, because we have essay questions here basically, the main topics were around getting
more clients, getting more leads and booking more weddings. All of have to do with basically
make more money…I need to make more money in 2013…and there were also a bunch of responses
about dealing with competition, and price issues and price shoppers that sort of thing.
So we are gonna continue to do more articles and videos around those topics.
Which topics should our videos and articles cover? This one, people could choose as many
as they like so number 1 by far, easily, “Marketing Strategies” followed by “how to get more
leads” and “Sales Techniques.” So those were the 3 most popular topics also have quite
a few people interested in Price and Value, in “Social Networks” and “dealing with
competition” so those will be topics that we will covering in our Book More Brides site
over next year. Income Goals
Now, this one, this came in about the same last year we did the survey and still it surprises
me that we asked, “How much income do you currently make from your wedding business
per year?” And 47.8% that just short of half of people we surveyed, make less than
$25,000 with their wedding business. So that’s kind of an eye opener and we also find that
20.7% are making between $25,000 - $50,000 a year. So, that is about 70% of the people
who took the survey, granted about 12% “Choose not to answer” this question, 70% of people
are making less than $50,000 a year. I don’t know where you live, but in the US that doesn’t
go that far if you have a family. So I think we our work cut out for us and we are going
to focus in helping you guys improve that this year.
How much income will you make per year from your business in the ideal situation?
So looks like most people would like to be making in between $75,000 - $100,000 a year
with the distribution like this. So we asked also if there is “Anything else
you would like us to know?” And people gave us some great suggestions, again these were
open suggestions, so I am not going to go through them.
But thank you so much if you took the time to take our survey and if you did not, you
can click on the link and we are no longer giving away a price for this. But if you would
like to tell what you think we are happy to hear from you. So you can click the link to
take the survey, here’s the link and it should be on blog page, if you read on some
of blogs or down inside the description, maybe off reading this or listening to this on YouTube.
Thank you so much for tuning in for our Wedding Trends 2013 with our Wedding Pro Survey Results
and we’ll be in touch soon.
