In this tutorial we're going to be taking a look at how to configure LeapFTP to work with your website.
Let's begin by selecting from the site's menu, the Site Manager option.
In the Site Manager you can organize various FTP connections into groups.
You can create a group by selecting...
Site > New > Group
and providing a name for that group, such as "personal".
You can create as many groups as you want, here I will create one more called "clients".
Now let's take a look at how to set up an actual connection.
I will begin by selecting the "personal" group
and then selecting from the Site menu,
New > Site.
I will provide a name for this site, I will call it, "My Website".
I now have the option to provide the details for this connection. Under the address field I will type in
the URL to my FTP server. In this case is a fictitious URL to a website called mydomain.com.
If your FTP server uses a port number other than 21 feel free to modify this number to reflect that port number.
Next, I will remove the anonymous logon option and enable the fields for username and password.
Here I will type in my username and password.
Once the connection is established I want to be able to connect directly into the public_html
so I will type in that name here as my remote path.
and for local path I'm going to point the system to a folder on my desktop
labeled
my website.
Once you are satisfied with these setting press the "Apply" button to save them.
You can choose to connect right away or simply close the site manager.
And now any time I want to connect to my remote FTP server, I simply go to the Sites menu
where I will see a list of my different groups that I've created
In this case under the "personal" group, I can see the connection for my website.
Let's click on that now.
Congratulations, you now know how to configure LeapFTP.
