Lesson 02 - Create a project with step7
- Start the software "Simatic manager"
- On the left side, click the button "New Project"
- Type a name for the new project
- By default the location to save the project is a siemens' folder. This folder can be changed by clicking the "Browse" button
- Now in the new project would have only an MPI network, so we should add the plc
- We click with the right mouse button over the icon of the project and select "Insert New Object"
- Among the various options you can insert plc, network types and operator panels. Insert a station "SIMATIC 300" (for testing I will use a plc s7-300)
- Type a name for the new plc
- Now the project would have the MPI network and the newly plc created
- Looking through the newly created branch plc, we will have the object "Hardware" where you put all the hardware part of the project (plc cards, input / output, etc.).
- Double-click on the icon "hardware" and open the configuration plc
- Now the project would have the MPI network and the newly plc created
- On the right we have a library of hardware components that we can use in our project
- To search for a component we can write its code number in the "Find" input and press the "search" button
- Will appear the various components whose code number contains the search string you used
- The components are grouped into folders categorized by their functionality (example: into Profibus DP folder there are components for the profibus network)
- To use a plc s7-300 we first need to insert the rail (the stand where we are going to mount the plc)
- Let's go to the folder simatic 300 - select the rack and move it by dragging it with the mouse in the upper central part of the software
- Now in the rack appointed (0) UR can enter the plc or other components needed for our project and that they need to be mounted on the rack
- I select the PLC CPU-300 from the list looking between the various codes (for this project i use a PLC with a Profibus and ethernet port)
- When we click on a valid PLC, a row of rack turns green to indicate the feasibility of mounting
- Drag with the mouse in the desired PLC rack to the left of the green line
- Just installed, the software requires the IP address to assign to the plc and the subnet mask (if you have a router also included his address)
- Creating the Ethernet network by clicking the "New" button. if you want you can also assign an identifying name to the network
- After checking the data we click ok
- As you can see now the software has created the Ethernet network connected to plc
- For convenience, the network can be dragged across the screen
- Double-clicking on the CPU, we might note the various features of the plc and also configure the hardware part
- Double-clicking on PN-IO (Ethernet interface of the CPU), we can change ip address
- At the end, save and compile to see if there are any errors in the configuration
- We close the window of the hardware configuration
- As you can see now under the hardware configuration we also have our cpu
- While into the main project, beyond the MPI network, we would have also ethernet netwrok created before
- Now browsing the branch of the cpu will notice the newly created S7 program folder where we will be all automation
- In the folder there is software file of symbols (where each address input/output/flags/db will have a symbol of identification), the block folder and source
