Hello and welcome to http://www.aquaheat.org.uk my name is Steve and here we are on another
installation. This time we are in South West SW17. We are in Tooting Bec, by Amen Corner,
which is Links Road. And today we removed an old Potterton Boiler and we’ve put in
a Worcester Bosch 25si in the same location really. Now the original boiler was actually
lower down, it was a big old beast. These are a lot smaller and compact these new condensing
boilers. We did think that we was going to have to cut into this lovely aluminium sort
of splash back, but through our skilful ingenuity, we managed to reroute the pipework from here,
back up into the original boiler. Therefore, saving any disturbance to the original thing
here and then the lady can have that boxed in or painted or whatever. So, new boiler
this one is a Worcester Bosch 25si; it’s a condensing boiler. All condensing boilers
are more energy efficient than the old style boilers. The average gas consumption that
they save is about £250 to £300 a year, depending on the size of the property and
the external heating controls you have, like thermostatic valves and room stat. So on the
Worcester Bosch 25si. The Worcester Bosch comes in a range of boilers, you’ve got
the junior, you’ve got the SRI’s and you’ve got the CDI’s. The SI’s are the one up
from the Juniors and you’ve got in kilowatt rating they do a 25 kilowatts (which is this
one) or 30 kilowatts. 25 kilowatts gives a hot water flow rate of around about 10.6 litres
of hot water flow rate a minute. That’s provided that you’ve got adequate cold water
coming in. You need probably around 12 litres a minute of cold water coming in to achieve
the outgoing. So that’s the boiler here and we’ve got a temperature control for
our central heating. Normally you leave that at set. The engineer leaves it on at about
5, between 5 and 6. Hot water, whatever works for you really. I find that I used to put
it on the maximum eco setting, but it’s a bit too hot so I usually leave it on around
about 4. It’s a pressurised system, fill it up through the key here. You can check
out the other video on “How To Fill Up A System – Worcester Bosch Boiler.” That’s
one of our other videos. The pressure gauge is here. We supply and fit, it’s not what
comes with the boiler, but it’s an extra; we supply and fit a Worcester DT2RF, which
is a wireless stat, with a programmer on the boiler. So set the heating, the temperatures:
You’ve got week day temperatures, morning, lunchtime, afternoon and also the option for
separate weekend settings and a holiday mode function. It’s a very safe boiler, this
is a room sealed gas appliance. If ever it overheats or anything like that, the pressure
falls low, the red light will flash – the reset light and it will shut itself down and
then you can either give someone like me a ring, if it’s one we’ve installed for
you. The system has been drained and flushed, we’ve put inhibitor in it and it’s been
dated here. It says where the inhibitor has been put in. So that protects the system,
the inhibitor, it’s a kind of chemical cleansing agent. It stops sludge from building up and
damaging the heat cell in the boiler. That’s our company there: Aquaheat. This is the instructions
for the boiler, which is that one here. The condense pipe on this job has been run outside
and back in to a down pipe. It’s all been fully lagged, the flue has been run outside
there. It’s all wired into our stat, there’s a switch here, that’s our 3 amp supply.
I’m a Worcester Bosch approved installer, which means that I can offer you, the customer,
the extended warranty. At the moment, the warranty is for 7 years. That covers parts
and labour. So this boiler; I will register online and you will be sent a certificate
to say that the boiler is covered in the event of a breakdown within a 7 year period. You
are advised to have that boiler serviced once a year, which if you can give us a call or
drop us an email, we can advise you what our current charges are for doing that. We come
around and put a machine on it an calibrate the boiler. So that’s pretty much the boiler
really. You know, we’re sort of in and out in a day; under a day really and that’s
the boiler there. Over here, we’ve got the wireless stat. It’s situated in the hallway.
It can be fitted in another place, but we find that this is like the coolest part of
the house and you’ve got a temperature controller here. So that will operate only when it’s
programmed to be on. So that’s that there and we fitted a new radiator on this system.
This is a Purmo rad, it’s a double panelled, single convector rad and it gives out really
good heat. You don’t want too much heat in the hallway, as it’s a bit of a waste
of energy really. But we fit all radiators with a thermostatic valve. On this one we’ve
got a Mistral thermostatic valve that temperature controls the radiator. So it will you know,
sort of save on energy. Instead of just getting boiling hot, if it’s like turned down to
a low setting, which the hallway should be, that radiator will just get warm, just a little
bit warm. Which is enough to take the chill off of the hallway, which is all you really
want in the hallway. Well that’s it really. So if you’d like more information about
the boilers that we install and would like us to come and give a quote to install a boiler
for you, then please drop us an email to info@aquaheat.org.uk . Thanks very much.
