Hey everybody, I'm Jake, the Geek Out Tech.
And today I'm going to talk to you about using
Nested Clips in ScreenFlow 4.
There are a couple of different ways to use Nested Clips.
One is to consolidate
space in your Timeline.
In some situations, your
Timeline starts to get cluttered.
Like this point here, I got
four lines of text and an image
and it's starting to take up a lot of
space in the Timeline.
What you can do is select all these clips here
right click on any of them
and select Nest Clips.
And it will consolidate those clips
down into one nested clip.
Now if you want to edit
any of those individual clips that are
inside this nested clip,
all you have to do is double click
on the nested clip
and it'll open up the nested clip
in a new tab.
And in here you can edit
each one of those clips individually.
Another use for nested clips
is to be able to apply an
action to multiple clips
in one step.
Let's say I want at the end of this
clip here to have
all this text and this
image to fade away all at the same time.
Typically, without nested clips, what you'd have to do
is you'd have to add a video action
to each one of those clips individually
and have it fade out
at the end of the time duration.
With nested clips,
you can just add one video action
to the nested clip
and it will apply to all the clips
inside the nested clip.
For example, let's
add a video action to the end of this nested clip
and I will have the Opacity
go to zero at the end of that video action.
Now watch here.
And it will have all those clips
fade out at the end right there.
All at the same time.
The one video action
applies to everything inside the clip.
And this can be very helpful in your editing
process. It can greatly reduce
the amount of time you spend editting.
So that's how you use nested clips
in ScreenFlow 4.
