Hey everyone, Hikosaemon here
Today, I'm doing a video as part of a game where I was tagged recently by a YouTuber called "Daichen"
The challenge is to tell three stories, two true and one a lie
And to then have you all try and guess which is the lie as a challenge
Daichen made his own 2 Truths 1 Lie vid and tagged me and some other YouTubers to make a similar vid
He challenged me so here I am today about to tell 3 stories
Try and guess which are true and which is a lie, one of them is a lie!
People who know me well know that I'm a bit of a "Doji" (clutz)
So to give some examples, my first "Doji" story is from when I first came to Japan
Living by myself, I found that the labels on waching machine detergents often look the same
One day I suddenly had it pointed out that for my entire first five years in Japan
The detergent I had used to do my waching wasn't waching detergent, but was actually fabric softener...
Someone suddenly pointed this out to me one day
So for 5 years, I washed my clothes without using soap suds
That's story number 1
My next story is about the first time I went to a "Goukon" (a match-making party)
I was really nervous
I had only just learned what a "Goukon" was... a couple-making party called a Goukon
Thinking of it in Japanese as a party where people get together ("Gou") and form relationships ("Kankei")
Somehow it all got a bit mixed up inside my head
So during the self introductions at the Goukon
Someone said this is Hiko, it's his first goukon party
I said "yep, today is going to be my first GOUKAN..."
("Goukan" means "***")
Everybody froze with shock, and I found myself in a bit of an awkward situation all of a sudden...
That's my second story
For my third story, you see, I really love karaoke
But when I first came to Japan, I had to overcome some problems which were
First, I was kind of tone-deaf...
And the other problem was that I didn't know many Japanese songs
So when I was first in Tokyo, there were lots of karaoke places near to the Eikaiwa (language school) where I taught part time that were cheap during lunch
I figured this would help my Japanese study and my singing
So I started going to karaoke by myself every day...
Every time the staff at the karaoke place were really surprised
Finally one day when I mentioned to my homestay that I was practicing by myself at karaoke
They looked at me like they thought I was a bit wierd, and asked me to please never do that again
I didn't realize that this was considered to be wierd in Japan, so I felt fine going by myself to karaoke for a time
So those are my three "doji" stories for you
So try and guess which stories are true and which is the lie and leave which one you think it is in a comment!
And since this is a video blog tag game
I'd like to get some Japanese vloggers in on this
So first up, I'd like to tag JetDaisuke
Dude, please, I'd love it if you'd have a go at this for me!
Next, I'd like to tag Kizuman
