Did you know 86% of college students feel overwhelmed?
81% feel exhausted.
And 30% too depressed to function?
My first year at SFSU I was that statistic.
I was in a new environment where I didn't know anyone.
I was worried if I would fit in, or if I would make new friends, or even if I would be able
to do it at all.
I missed my parents terribly.
I felt lonely and isolated.
Felt like everyone around me had it together while I struggled with my responsibilities,
my assignments, my reading.
I felt like a failure.
My roommate Hawa suggested visiting Counseling & Psychological Services for some extra help
dealing with everything.
They made some great recommendations such as exercise. Who knew it would make me feel
so much better?
They also suggested that I get organized and set some reasonable goals for myself.
So I purchased a planner, now it's easier to stay on top of my responsibilities.
Staying in touch with friends and family has also proven to be uplifting and relieves my
stress.
Now I am more comfortable in my environment and have even managed to make some friends.
So always remember, SF State cares about your well-being, just like they did mine.
So reach out to someone, we're always here to help.
