I hear quite a bit from my dealers in the field and I'm always checking online to see
what people think about my product MasterShield and I've seen that there's been a couple of
questions about "Can the product handle snow load?". Well, we're here at a home where MasterShield's
been on the house for more than four years. We're going to run around back to where it's
at a low level and I can just stand there. And let's check this thing out about snow
load and is MasterShield up to the task. We're here at a MasterShield installation that is
more than four years old. Now this MasterShield's gone through four years of harsh New England
weather, harsh new England snow, but some of our competitors say "Hey, MasterShield,
all those bends that it has in it and the slimness of the body design, it just cannot
handle a snow load. Well, let's see if that's true. Snow, every one foot of snow, wet snow,
weighs about five pounds. So, if there were four feet of snow on this roof and MasterShield,
that's equivalent to about a twenty-pound weight. I just happen to have a twenty-pound
weight here and let's see how MasterShield handles this snow load, or simulated snow
load. Looks like it's taking it pretty well. Now, you'll notice there's a little bit of
flex in MasterShield, but there's also a little bit of flex in the gutter. Anything that the
gutter can handle MasterShield's going to handle because those bends that are in the
product that help it direct water add something to MasterShield called the memory of metal.
Also, it's well known in the metallurgy or the physics of metal that when you put a bend
in metal it adds strength. Let's make this test just a little bit more difficult. Well,
I think you can rest assured that no matter how much snow you've got on your roof, MasterShield's
more than up to the task. For Rochester gutter screens, visit MasterShield.com.
