A land that has never knows freedom and only her rivers run free.
Good afternoon. I'm still reporting on the economy.
Good news out of Iran on two fronts.
First, Dr. Steve Hanky, Professor of Economics at Johns Hopkins University --
probably the world's leading expert at taming hyper inflations --
has just released new numbers on inflation in Iran.
Prior to the election of Iran's new president, Hassan Rouhani,
in June, Prof. Hanky calculated Iranian inflation at 109 percent per year.
In just three months confidence in the new government
and its money, the Iranian Rial, has improved
significantly. Professor Hanky calculates that Iranian inflation has plummeted
to only 20 percent per year, even lower than the government's latest estimate
of 35.1 percent. This drops
Iran well out if its recent hyperinflationary period.
Hyperinflation is defined as inflation of over 50 percent per year.
Contrary to popular opinion, hyper inflations are very rare.
There have been less than 50 examples throughout world history.
However, the result of this extended period of hyper-inflation in Iran has
created
hardships on the average Iranian citizen,
especially young adults who can't find jobs.
It is these young adults who are decidedly pro-western.
They are seeking freedom from the ruling Mullahs --
freedom to practice religion as they see fit.
"Death to tyrants!"
They turned out at the polls in record numbers to elect president Rouhani
in an overwhelming come-from-behind victory.
This longing for human freedom cannot be denied.
The only question is will the U.S. play some part in helping
this generation achieve freedom? Rouhani painted himself as the most
reformist candidate available.
I believe he has already proven this to be the case.
However former US ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton,
is still very skeptical about Rouhani.
He called suggestions like I made in Still Report number 91
which advocated lifting a few sanctions against Iran as
"naive". I deeply respect Ambassador Bolton's views
however we let Iran's internet generation
down when they took to the streets eighteen months ago
by providing zero support for their protests.
Let's do something for them now. The US must do something to help the people of
Iran
to send a signal for the support of freedom-loving people everywhere.
This week, President Rouhani went even further.
While in New York to address the UN General Assembly,
he made a startling statement to NBC's Ann Curry
completely repudiating his predecessors denial of the Holocaust.
"The massacre by the Nazis was condemnable ....
they committed a crime against Jews, which is a crime against Christians,
against Muslims,
against all of humanity. You cannot possibly make a stronger renunciation
of a former national policy than that -- not and keep your job.
This may well be a great turning point
in human history. Certainly this should be enough for President Obama
to take a step in the right direction, but if not then President Rouhani
could make one final gesture in light of the despicable terror attack on
civilians in Nairobi, Kenya.
He could consider renouncing this act as well,
and even renouncing the use of terror attacks
on civilian populations to further political ends.
This would pave the way toward significantly more peaceful relations
and calm decades of unfruitful war
to the detriment a freedom-loving people worldwide.
Terror only enables those who would enslave the entire world
in one giant nation of debt. It gives the MoneyMasters the excuse to destroy
our natural rights -- our human rights.
So what are these natural rights?
Just three weeks before the Declaration of Independence declared Americans free,
its predecessor the Virginia Declaration of Rights
declared on June 20, 1776:
"all men are by nature equally free and independent
and have certain inherent rights of which ... they cannot deprive or divest
their posterity; namely the enjoyment of life and liberty,
with the means of acquiring and possessing property,
and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety."
This is what people across the world want
in every nation on this planet. Only the money monopoly,
feeding anachronistic dictatorships and other excessive consolidations of power
stand in our way. President Rouhani
could -- in essence -- swear allegiance to these
inalienable concepts of human freedom
and thereby tip the balance of terror both militarily,
and even economically for all time.
However, perhaps this would be more than some radical elements
could endure graceful,ly so we all need to pray for the guidance of a merciful
God
as humanity steps up to what could be
a pivotal turning point.
