Heya playas, did you watch the season finale of The Walking Dead? Because if you didn't
I suggest you do that right now! I mean you don't have to do it right now, you can wait
till this videos over. But the points I'm gonna make are very very relevant to the Walking
Dead series. No spoilers, this is a spoiler free zone so if you haven't seen it I will
not ruin anything for you. And for the people who don't know about the Walking Dead, let
me kind of sum it up for you. Rick Grimes, a small time police officer ends up waking
up from a coma and ending up in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. And in the midst of
searching for his missing wife and son he ends up finding them in the helpful hands
of his best friend Shane. And that's where the show differs from the comic because the
show goes more in depth on the concept of leadership roles. Mainly the two leadership
roles that are explored are a man that acts on passion and a man that acts on logic. As
I began watching the show I began to wonder what life would be like if there really was
a zombie apocalypse. I mean, which person would be better fit to lead a group? Rick
Grimes represents the whole hearted "King" leadership mentality where as Shane, the fire-fueled
warrior represents just that. King leaders are usually self sacrificing in the sense
that they'll do what they think is right for the entire group. And a warrior is also self
sacrificing in the sense that they'll put everything on the line for what they feel
is right. Walking Dead is not just about zombies, it's about humans functioning in a world where
the imminent threat of death is always upon them. And the civilized society that we've
grown used to is thrown down in favor of small secular tribes. I wouldn't really consider
this a spoiler but- SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS (Ok, fine fine). Even in The Walking Dead,
the king comes in and solidifies his position as leader because the people accept it where
as the warrior has to fight to maintain it. So just stemming that point off of The Walking
Dead, which would be the better leader? The king or the warrior? Well in season 2 of the
show it's pretty clear that SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS (Alright! I won't say anything!).
All I know is that being the king might sound like a sweet deal but sometimes it's really
not. You see the problem with the king is that his mindset is focused on protecting
the wide set of people thus causing him to forget about the individuals in his own life.
And the warrior can make those brash decisions that sometimes the king can't, just like in
season 2 when Shane- SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS (Ugh, fine!). Realistically the point I'm
trying to make is that the best leader in The Walking Dead between Rick and Shane would
be a hybrid of both of them. You need the king traits to be able to negotiate, work
with and understand other people but you also need the warrior traits that allow you to
be strong and tough when you need to. And that's happened a lot so far on The Walking
Dead. Just like when Shane... and... Rick... just like when Shane and Rick- SPOILERS SPOILERS
SPOILERS. All in all I gotta say, I am so incredibly hyped for the 3rd season of The
Walking Dead. Mainly because Michonne makes an appearance, the Governor is gonna be there,
they end up finding the prison so hopefully they have that whole storyline where they
fight for it. It's gonna be sick! Like this video if you enjoy The Walking Dead and are
as just as pumped as I am. Leave a comment letting me know, without spoiling anything,
in The Walking Dead, who do you think made a better leader? Rick or Shane? And subscribe
to the channel to see more reviews and other philosophical break downs of things in pop
culture. As always guys, love and peace. Can't wait for the next season of The Walking Dead?
That's ok cause neither can I. So what I did was sign up for a zombie marathon. Zombie
marathon! It's called Run For Your Lives and what it is is a 5K obstacle course where you
are running and being chased by zombies. How awesome is that? Pretty damn awesome. That's
why you should sign up for the same day and time slot that I did. I'm going to the Boston
Massachusetts one on May 5th. I'll be running in the 12PM wave so if you want to run with
me and survive the zombie apocalypse, I suggest you click the link in the description below
and check it out. ***'s gonna be sick. Also check out The Walking Dead comic because it's
*** awesome.
