FARO is the leader in the 3D measurement and imaging market,
and the AMP allows us to further complete our spectrum of 3D non-contact solutions.
The AMP product provides a 3D high-density, high accuracy point cloud.
It helps solve a customer problem that white light technology cannot today.
The FARO AMP is a high-performance, non-contact 3D imager that is capable of collecting millions of points in mere seconds.
Using patented technology, the AMP achieves groundbreaking accuracy never before seen on parts, assemblies and tools.
The patented technology that the FARO AMP uses to achieve its high accuracy
is called Accordion Fringe Interferometry, or AFI for short.
It uses lasers to generate a fringe pattern that projects onto the part.
First, the part is positioned properly within the AMP’s field of view.
The image can be easily cropped in order for the data capture to be concentrated on the part itself.
In order to collect the optimal amount of data, even on parts of variable colors and reflectivity,
the maximum and minimum exposure levels are adjusted.
With the click of a button, the AMP takes an initial snapshot of the part
and then multiple fringe patterns are projected onto it.
The AMP then collects the data from these fringe patterns.
The end result is a highly accurate point cloud.
After re-positioning the part, additional images can be taken in order to get the required amount of point cloud data.
The AMP is ideal for parts that have complex shapes or parts that have large, smooth surfaces.
It’s the perfect tool for applications in quality control, reverse engineering, and rapid manufacturing.
The AMP benefits customers by providing them with a truly affordable,
easy-to-use solution for capturing comprehensive data on their parts and tooling.
It also offers improved measurement of dark and shiny parts that are often missed by optical systems.
When the fringes are captured with its high-resolution camera, a highly-accurate point cloud is created,
generating a true representation of the part in the AMP’s half-meter field of view.
The accuracy of its fringes is what makes the AMP so unique.
The AMP product is portable, so you can take it to the manufacturing area.
It allows you to capture data from the early casting stage, all the way to final inspection.
It provides a speed, accuracy, and really eliminates the user variability, and all of that at a very competitive price.
