Moment of Reflection
Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano
(Century VIII)
"In Lanciano (Italy), around the year 750,
Jesus wanted to give a proof of His real presence in the Eucharist.
The ancient documents and a continuing tradition
report that the monastery of S. Legonciano, where dwelt the monks of S. Basil
(Now the church of St. Francis)
lived a monk not too firm in the faith that
Although educated in the sciences of the world, ignorant of the God.
Day after day he walked increasingly uncertain
in the consecrated Host was the true Body of Christ,
as well as the wine the true Blood of Christ.
However, he would pray constantly to God
you take away the heart wound that it was poisoning the soul.
The Father of mercies comprazeu-If you get into such obscurity.
One morning, during the celebration of Mass,
after having made the most holy words of consecration,
the monk found himself more than ever immersed in his doubts.
Suddenly, he saw the bread turned into flesh and wine into the Blood ...
Terrified and confused, it was a long time as if in ecstasy, and finally
his face full of joy, still bathed in tears,
turning to the bystanders, said:
"The blessed God, to confound my unbelief;
wanted to reveal Himself in the Blessed Sacrament and become visible to our eyes:
Come brothers, contemplate. Here's the Beef, behold the blood of our dearly beloved Christ! "
People who participated in the Mass, realizing the miraculous event,
began to shed tears and begged mercy.
Quickly spread throughout the city's fame as rare and singular miracle.
Bishop, realizing the importance of this prodigious
ordered that that Blood and flesh were scrupulously and lovingly stored.
Even today, almost 1300 years, the Flesh and Blood are preserved incorrupt.
In 1970, the Bishop of Lanciano made the decision
to bring these "relics of the Eucharist" to a scientific examination.
The delicate study was entrusted to Prof.. Linoli,
Associate Professor in Anatomy and Pathological Histology and in Chemistry and Clinical Microscopy,
also served as acting chief physician of the Hospital of Arezzo (Italy).
The conclusions that Prof.. Linoli arrived in his laborious research,
were offered to the public on March 4, 1971.
These can be assembled in the following points:
1 - The Flesh of the Eucharistic miracle is real flesh and blood is real blood.
2 - The Flesh and the Blood belong to the human species.
3 - The Flesh consists of the heart muscle (myocardium).
4 - Blood group resulted in much the same meat as in the blood (group AB).
5 - demonstrated in blood proteins were fractionated relations percentage
that present approaches to stroke-serum protein of normal fresh blood.
6 - In the Blood minerals were found:
Phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chloride, calcium and magnesium.
The conservation of proteins and minerals is quite exceptional.
It is known that the blood taken from a cadaver
can not have the features found in the blood of the Miracle of Lanciano.
In 1973, the World Health Organisation (WHO)
appointed a scientific commission to verify this study.
The findings coincided completely with those of Professor. Linoli.
Therefore, the meat is a living tissue that belongs to a human heart
and Blood is not only incorrupt, but it is cool,
ie has the characteristics of the blood of a living person.
Brothers, is impressive: even science proves
the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist consecrated Host
to confirm our faith in the Blessed Sacrament.
This precious relic of the Body and Blood Miracle
is worshiped even today in St. Francis Church in Lanciano.
- Thank you, Jesus.
+ Blessing of God Almighty and Merciful
Father, Son and Holy Spirit descend upon you on your family and stay forever.
- Amen.
