Google AdWords started out with a simple model: Make it easy for any business to advertise
online by creating relevant text-based ads and focus on results by only charging when
someone clicks on their ads. Over the last 10 years, this model has connected
hundreds of thousands of advertisers with the customers they need to help their businesses
succeed and grow. But the internet's evolving, and more businesses
in more industries have started to come online. So we've started thinking about new models
that might help these businesses better reach their goals.
For example, maybe paying per click isn't the best way to assure results for your business
and you want a model with different pricing options.
So, if your products are sold offline but you're interested in finding customers online,
it may be better to pay for qualified leads. Or if you have thousands of products with
different prices, you may want to pay a percentage based on what someone actually bought through
your ad. Or maybe a text-based ad isn't the most efficient
way to explain your product. So, if you offer products that people need to research before
they buy, you might want to show an interactive table that lets people sort and compare prices
and product information. Or, maybe you want an easy way to create relevant
ads for thousands of products. Instead of coming up with text for each one, you might
want to just use the pictures and prices of the actual products you're selling.
These are just some of the ways we've started to expand on our original AdWords model, and
there will be more new models to come. So take a look, there may a new model designed
for your business.
