The A-Class has always seen as this little bubble people carrier type car but Mercedes
have changed it now so it's now a sporty hatchback. I went to Mercedes and asked them to send
me a brochure for the A Class, only because driving to work one day one passed me on the
other side of the road and I didn't recognize what it was.
It was obviously a brand new model, and a brand new spec, and didn't recognize the car
at all, but just fell in love with it from the moment I saw it. Just looked really different,
especially from the front end. The front end grill looked really nice.
So got to work, chatted to a few people who knew more about cars than I do. They told
me it was the new A Class Mercedes, and fortunately Mercedes is just across the road from work,
so went over there and saw one, and then started to spec up the type of car that I'd want from
them. So they have a pretty handy website. Started putting some bit and bobs together
about, would I want it with a panoramic roof or without or would I want it with leather
or not, and then built the car that I really wanted.
But well worth it in the end, of doing all the reviews online, and reading round, going
looking at them. Never had a test drive in one, but trusted the fact that it was going
to be a really nice car from reading all the stuff online. Because their was loads of information
about it. It's that fine balance between hot-hatch but then something that's got a little bit
of a more luxurious feel about it. I probably think that's the best way to sum
it up best. I've never had a brand new car before, so you get all the - It sounds really
sad - but you get all the traditional thing like the new car smell. Which I don't what
it is but a lot of people obviously go for the new car smell. So that was nice. The fact
that is delivered with less than a 100 miles on the clock, because they drove it to me.
And, just that kind of real nice feeling of knowing that you have been able to go out
there and buy a brand new car. Then within the first week it was just getting
used to it, because it was an automatic gear box. So I had to get used to an automatic
because I hadn't had an automatic in a while. It's a different type of automatic as well,
because it's got this, like an American style stick shift rather than a gear lever in the
middle. And then just kinda testing out what it would do, seeing what speed it would do,
within the legal limits. And seeing what it actually drove like.
I suppose that was the slightly nervy thing was, because I actually had not test driven
it, I really didn't know what it was going to drive like. But I was impressed, it's very
stiff and it's very quick. But it's very comfortable. Ticks all the boxes.
