Hello and welcome to this quick guide
to the new accessiblity features of iOS 7.1
The first place you will see the new changes, is the home screen
There are several changes, the text in the status bar is bolder
The Phone and Message Icons are Darker
The text under the icons is also bolder
The Dock and Folder Backgrounds are now dark gray.
For the Keyboard, we're using Safari
Changes to the Keyboard Include
Text on the keys is much bolder
Shift, Delete, Dictate and Keyboard Selector buttons are a different colour
The Cancel button is now underlined
Making it easier to identify it as a button rather than a label
Though the text in the URL box appears smaller
Moving onto the Caledar
The buttons now have a darker background
Making it easier to identify them as buttons rather than labels.
The add and Search buttons have been made bolder, but do not have a background
The contast on the ribbon running along the top of the screen has also been improved
There is also a new button, giving access to the Calendar list view
This makes it easier to see upcomming appointments.
The next feature is darken colours and reduce white point
Darken Colours, make the colour of text items appear darker
In this case the blue on Accessibility has been made darker
The white point reduces the brightness of the white areas of the screen.
This helps reduce glare
It is not demonstrated, as it does not appear any different when doing a screen capture
In iOS 7.1 siri has a higher quality maile and female voice
This is what siri sounded like in 7.06
Do I have any appointments tomorrow
[You don't have any appointments on your calendar for tomorrow. ]
So now we can hear what the new voice for Siri sounds like in iOS 7.1
Do I have any appointments for tomorrow
[You don't have any appointments on your calendar for tomorrow]
I can also change siri from a Male voice to a Female voice by saying
Siri Settings
Choose Voice Gender
Female
and Press the home button
Do I have any appointments on my calendar for tomorrow
You don't have any appointments on your calendar for tomorrow.
So we will now look at the weather and app switcher animations
So even though reduced motion is switched on
When I double tap the home button, to access app switcher
It still zooms out
If I open the weather application
You will notice that the clouds at the top of the screen are moving
These animations take place even though I have switched off animations
Now if I switch to iOS 7.1
No when I go into the App Switcher
Instead of zooming out, it simply fades in
If I go into the weather application
The clouds at the top of the screen remain static.
