Hi. We're back at Expert Village and I'm Kat Litrenta. I'm a professional entertainer and
I'm going to show you how to be a 1950's star. Now, maybe I don't know anything about the
1950's. Where will I go and research it? Well, how about the movie Grease? Rent that movie
and watch it. Not only will it give you makeup tips, but it'll give you tips on how to move
and maybe you'll even pick up a song that you can put in your revue. Also, Hairspray,
that's a wonderful new movie that will give you some ideas about hairstyles and makeup.
Now, my one tip for makeup is, before I apply the makeup, I put on this stocking. Two reasons:
I put the stocking on before I put on my makeup because, as you've seen, I just dragged it
across my face. And once I've put on my makeup, I don't want to have to drag the stocking
over my face. It also, will go underneath my wig to keep my hair from sticking out of
the wig or have my hair fall out underneath. Makeup tips for the 50's, exaggerated lips
and beautiful blues. Eye shadows are very, very popular. And I always try to pick up
a color that's in my costume. I try to pick that up and put that into my makeup. Never
assume wherever you're traveling with your costume and your show that they will have
a mirror. Bring your own mirror in your makeup kit and applying this makeup may require water.
So bring your own water. It serves two purposes. You can wet your sponge and you can wet your
throat.
