Hi everybody, this is Jessica from JewelryTutorialHQ.com
Today I'm going to show you how to make an adjustable sliding knot for leather or cord
bracelets and necklaces.
You'll see that I've already strung my bracelet and I've made knots at either end of the beading
as well as on the ends of the bracelet itself.
And how you know how long to make the bracelet is you overlap the ends by about a half an
inch, this is where the knot is gonna go
and you make sure that at that size you have plenty of room to get the bracelet on and off.
Now we're going to overlap the ends and grab another piece of cord. This is about
6 or 7 inches long
and make a loop on one end like this with a short tail on that side and then you have
the longer tail that you're going to use to wrap around.
So make sure your cords are not crossed over or twisted and hold them in your non-dominant
hand and grab the loop with your thumb
and wrap the long end of the cord around several times - about 5 or 6 times at least
making sure not to make your loops too tight because we're going to weave the cord back
through the loops we just made.
So this is what it looks like, but I actually don't recommend letting go because you'll
see it just loosened it up a little too much, it's going to make it a little bit harder.
So we're going to weave this longer end back up through all those little loops of that
coil that we just made
until we get back to the first loop. Make sure you get through that first loop.
Now you want to grab both ends that are sticking out and pull gently apart. And as you pull
it will tighten up the knot.
Now this looks like a huge mess, I know, but you'll see - it's going to tighten up into
a nice, neat knot when we're done.
Just keep pulling a little bit at a time and there's the knot - see I told ya!
And give it a little tug, but not too tight because we want it to slide.
So now we've got these ends and you can leave them long if you want to with knots or with
beads on them just like the other ones.
But what I prefer is to knot them and cut them really short and I'll show you how I
do that!
I just tie a knot in each end of the cord and slide it down as close as I can get to
the first knot
push it with my fingernail and pull it tight.
And then do the same on the other side.
Now this cord that I'm using is a 1mm waxed linen cord and this is a brown color, but
it comes in all different colors.
You can find it at any craft store or you can find it on Amazon of course,
it's real easy to work with. And I sell this brown cord in my bead shop, BespangledBeads.etsy.com
as well.
And I also have these little silver beads that fit nicely over this cord. I'll leave the links in the notes section.
Now we're all done with those knots and we're ready to trim and finish up our bracelet.
So there we go - we have a nice adjustable size bracelet with a single sliding knot!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that you'll come back and see me soon.
