Hi this is Monique and today I am going to show you how to use Google Translate to make
captions and subtitles in YouTube.
So you start off by going to Google and you type in Google Translate.
So the first thing that is going to show up is kind of like these two text boxes so all
you have to do is type in what you want in the English side and then you can change the
language in this drop-down menu.
So I'm changing it to French.
As you can see it automatically translates Blue into Bleu in French.
Now if you scroll down you can go to the actual site for Google Translate and this is where
I would put in all of my captions, or my subtitles and things like that for the movie
so right now I am typing hi this is monique and I am talking about Google Translate.
And as you can see it's filling it in in French.
So I speak French so I can tell that it's correct, but I also speak a bit of Japanese,
so I want to change it to Japanese by going to the drop down menu and choosing Japanese
language.
So the drop down menu is at the top there.
As you can see there's a bunch of different languages you can choose from, but I'm going
to pick Japanese, and as you can see it is translated into Japanese.
And the spoken word is below the text.
So you can do this for all of your captions in YouTube.
So I'm actually going to go into YouTube now.
I'm going to go into my Creator Studio for my page so you can see what it looks like
when you actually put captions in a video.
So I'm going into video manager and I'm just going to pick a video that's pretty short
here that's got some captions and I am going to edit it so just click on edit, now we are
going to go to the section that's closed captions and subtitles and as you can see for this
video I already have the automatic ones and english ones that I made myself.
So lets click on those so what you do if you want to add in Japanese captions, you would
just fill in, kind of copy and paste into Google Translate and go create some new Japanese
subtitles by going back to close captions/subtitles and then you would put the Japanese translation
in there.
So that's all you have to do if you want to create new subtitles using Google Translate.
Ok bye!
