How to Choose Wedding Music. Start your married life on a good note by ensuring your wedding
is a magical celebration of love; this is best done with great guests and scrumptious
food, but most importantly, soul-stirring music. You will need Music iPod, band, or
DJ and music policies at location (optional). Step 1. Choose your music medium. Hire a band,
play your iPod, or employ a DJ -- whichever you choose, you will be instrumental in picking
the music. Step 2. Pick music for the ceremony. Often overshadowed by the funky reception
beats, ceremony music is vital. Choose nonobtrusive prelude music to play while the guests are
being seated. Consult with your wedding location to ensure they do not have policies on the
type of music played during the ceremony. For example, some churches will not allow
secular music. Step 3. Pick the pre-processional music, for when close family members and friends
are being seated. Try Handel's "Air from the Water Music" suite. Step 4. Select your wedding
party or processional music. The wedding party needs to walk in sync with this piece, so
a nice, moderate piece will do. Step 5. Select a dramatic piece to begin when the bride enters
-- a traditional choice is "Wagner's Bridal Chorus." When you and your new spouse are
pronounced husband and wife, an excellent departure song is Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."
Step 6. Sit down with your significant other and choose the first dance song. You will
remember this one for the rest of your life, so make it meaningful. Many choose standbys
like "Can't Help Falling in Love" or "Unchained Melody," but pick what song means the most
to you both. Step 7. Get the reception hopping with an eclectic mix of tunes. Talk with your
band or DJ about what songs you want as well as what songs you do not want to hear at your
wedding. If you take the music seriously, people will be talking about your wedding
for a long time. Did you know In Ireland, Scotland, and Great Britain, fruitcakes are
the traditional choice for most weddings.
