What are your rights under Iowa's work comp laws? Most folks that come in want to know
what their rights under the system. Well you basically have ten rights which I call the
Iowa Injured Worker's Bill of Rights. They're all spelled out in my book which is available
at no cost or risk at IowaWorkInjury.com. But to start with you have the absolute right
to medical care. Whether the worker's compensation company denies your claim then you can get
care on your own, or whether they admit your claim you have a right to medical care. You
also have the right to refuse medical care. If their doctor wants you to have surgery
or other procedure that you aren't comfortable with, you have the absolute right to not undergo
that medical care. Now keep in mind that can have a significant impact on your worker's
compensation case but they can't force you to have medical care. Another right admitted
claims is the right to mileage for going to and from all your appointments including
physical therapy, and also to the pharmacy as well. You also have the right to temporary
total disability benefits if you are not able to work while you are healing from a work
injury. As I mentioned there is ten total rights and it would take me many minutes to
explain all of them to you, so those are a few of them, but I would encourage you to
go to IowaWorkInjury.com request our book that has the other rights. Thank You.
