Hi my name is Ray Lapuz;
I teach math at Canada College.
This screen test will demonstrate how to create an assignment in Moodle
where the students upload one file
So one of my assignments is a Math Autobiography
and the math autobiography is an essay that they would have to write and submit
so, to do that in Moodle, to have them submit in Moodle
let's go into your moodle page and turn the editing on,
and scroll down to the block that you want this assignment to be in.
Add an activity, were in a selected activity to add this is an assignment where the students would upload a single file
Let's call the file "Math autobiography"
and the text or the directions would be something that you would create you would have written already
so here it's writing about your math background
so let's copy this
and paste it
onto that page
then you might want remind them that they should
type the essay
and save as
and doc
rtf or text file
now this can take in a variety of other files like gifs and JPEG etc... but, for the sake of having an essay, it's a word file basically
We have some options, your grading scheme, if it's best out of ten or a hundred you can I fix that
Let's say I just want students to have up 10 points for this
you can set the availability dates, from available when it starts and let's due
Or you can click these boxes to disable them
So for this case I would want it due, so the students would actually do it.
you can prevent late submissions for this I can accept it late so I'll say "no" for that.
Allow resubmitting : I've had students actually accidentally submit something else.
so all we can allow resubmitting.
If you want emails for every submission that Moodle receives then you can click yes on this; I'll keep it as "no."
This is a simple essay is so it shouldn't take more than two MB
So you can restrict the file size.
We won't worry about the groups; we want this to be visible for the students and, if you have
want this to go in your grade book you can assign a category to it
if not you can leave it uncategorized and when you deal with your grade book another time
you can fix that up and put this in an appropriate category
So we'll save and display just that quick look at it.
And this is how you create an assignment where the students have to upload one file.
