I help with a project that teaches newborn resuscitation.
Going from being in the womb to coming out
and being expected to breathe, there's a lot happening.
It's the number one cause of babies dying around the world.
In some of these countries,
250 babies die for every thousand that are born.
We will do about 35 projects each year
and train thousands of health care providers worldwide.
We expect within six months, they will each train 60 to 100 people.
It's important that we leave them all the equipment
and everything they need to help babies during that critical time
by helping the baby breathe.
When the call came for me to help, I had lots of excuses.
There were many reasons I couldn't go, and I said no.
The one who helped me decide the most was my wife,
because I didn't want to do this to my family.
She said, "Are you sure? What's more important,
money, or helping when you're needed?"
It taught me that through your good example,
many people will learn about Christlike love.
You don't always need to talk about it as long as you show it.
I'm Dr. Ryan Wilcox.
I'm a father.
I'm a pediatrician.
I'm a humanitarian.
And I'm a Mormon.
