This short video will demonstrate how
to setup or modify the notification
preferences in your profile.
You can adjust the notification preferences
to keep you updated directly
on your cell phone,
email,
or twitter account
facebook,
of any course event
such as assignment due dates,
announcements, and other activity
on a daily or weekly basis.
Click the settings link on the Help Corner,
also referred to as the Identity Bar,
found on the top right.
The first step is to begin
by adding your contact information.
The sidebar on the right,
named Ways to Contact
contains the Add Email Address link
and the Add Contact Method link
where you can enter your email address
and cell phone number respectively.
Whichever link you click,
a Register Communication dialog box
will appear.
In the email tab,
once you enter your email address,
click the Register Email button.
An additional dialog box will appear
notifying you that you will receive a
confirmation link at the email account
you just entered.
To close the box,
click the 'Ok, thanks' button.
To add your cell phone number,
select the Text(SMS) tab.
Enter your cell phone number.
Expand the dropdown menu
to select your service carrier.
Click the Register SMS button.
Again, an additional box will appear,
requiring that you enter
a four character confirmation code.
You should almost instantly receive the
confirmation code in a text sent to your phone.
After you enter the code,
click the Confirm button.
Notice the Edit Settings button.
Clicking this button will enable the Settings field.
This means that you can edit your name,
change your Display and Sortable Name,
and add your birthdate.
To change your password,
please contact WebCampus Support.
Click on the Update Settings button
to save your changes.
If you would like to receive notifications
in a social networking site
such as your facebook,
Twitter, or Skype account
you need to register it in Canvas.
To do this, under Other Services,
click on the button of the social
networking service you would like to link to
and proceed following the setup instructions.
To continue, click Notifications on
the Course Navigation menu.
The Notifications are divided into six categories.
Course Activities, Discussions,
Communications, Scheduling,
Groups and Alerts.
This makes it simple for you
to go through the list of alerts
and set where and when
you would like to be notified.
To set a notification, place your mouse
over the cell on the column containing the
location of where you want it to be delivered.
Four icons appear.
Selecting the checkmark icon will notify
you immediately of any activity change.
Selecting the clock icon, will deliver you
notifications of any activity change
in a daily basis.
The calendar icon, will deliver notifications
on a weekly basis.
And the X icon, will remove
the notification preference.
Each set notification preference will apply
to all of your courses.
Therefore, it is strongly recommended that your
Course Activities and Disccussions alerts
are set to daily and that these are
delivered to your cell phone or email.
